General HotSync problem troubleshooting

There are several things to try if you're having problems with performing a HotSync operation with your handheld:

  • Check to make sure that HotSync Manager is running (on the Mac, make sure that its Enabled) and that your type of cradle/cable (USB or Serial) is selected.
  • If you've got your cable/cradle plugged into a USB hub, try switching to another port on that hub, and connecting it directly into the USB port on your computer.
  • You can try stopping and restarting the HotSync manager.
  • If you have access to another cable or cradle, try that (just in case you have a bad cable/cradle).
  • There is a README file on the CD that came with your handheld that should contain some more information about performing HotSync operations.
  • If you're using a serial connection, try looking at the COM ports article.
